We have created a new, progressively motivated organization to provide unfiltered and non-censored voice and visibility to the issues, expression, culture and politics of young people around the world. We see media and culture as an important and untapped tool for social change.

The Coalition to Stop the Demolitions would like to thank all of our allies and supporters throughout the United States and the world who came and stood with us in New Orleans or took action on the streets of your city, or who called, emailed, or faxed the New Orleans City Council, Mayor Ray Nagin, Senator Vitter, the Senate Banking Committee members, etc. Your support played a pivotal role in helping us attain the victories we accomplished last week in halting the demolition of three of the four major public housing locations in New Orleans.

National Student Walkout

Walk Out in support of the Jena 6National Student Call to Action!

Monday, October 1st, 2007

at 12 Noon, (Central Time)

Artist/ Activist Mos Def along with M1, Talib Kweli, the Malcolm X Grassroots Movement, Sankofa Community Empowerment, Change the Game, the National Hip Hop Political Convention, and student leaders from 50 campuses call for a National Student Walk-Out to rally and show support for the Jena 6, who are being denied their human rights by the Louisiana criminal justice system.

For HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS and those who are no longer in school, we encourage you to wear all Black (as during the initial Jena protests) as a sign of continued support.
